How to apply
CPCC will only accept applications from properly registered or incorporated businesses; government departments, government agencies, Crown Corporations; public institutions; and other non-commercial entities and professional musicians who are registered with the Musicians' Rights Organization Canada.
Legislatively exempt organizations (societies, associations, or corporations that represent the perceptually disabled) are encouraged to contact CPCC directly to obtain a zero-rating certificate number. It is not necessary for such organizations to complete this online application process, or to pay any administrative fee.
The online application system will generate a customized contract for your business or organization and submit it to CPCC for approval.
Sample contracts are available to be viewed, downloaded, and printed before starting the online application process.
Where applicable, you will be directed to an online payment site at the end of the application process. CPCC cannot process your application until the administrative fee has been paid.
When your application and payment are received by CPCC, you will receive an e-mail message at the e-mail address that you provide in the application confirming receipt of your application. You will also be asked to fax an official document (utility bill or letterhead) to allow CPCC to verify the applicant's identity. (Musicians' Rights Organization Canada members do not have to submit an official document, as the Musicians' Rights Organization Canada will confirm that the applicant is a member in good standing.) CPCC cannot process your application until you have sent the fax, and replied to the e-mail message.
If your application is approved by CPCC, you will receive a signed contract and a certificate number from CPCC. If your application is not accepted, any administrative fee you may have paid will be refunded.
More information about the zero-rating program is available on the CPCC Web site.
